Terms of Use

By downloading or using FlagStack, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Use of the App

FlagStack is a geography quiz and social game. You may use it for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must be at least 13 years old to use FlagStack. We confirm this with you when you first open the app, before you start playing.

2. Your Account

An account is created for you automatically. So that you can start playing straight away, FlagStack creates an account for you the first time you open the app and gives it a randomly generated username. You do not need to enter an email address, choose a password, or fill in a sign-up form.

This account lives on the device you created it on. It has no email address or password attached to it, so there is no way for us to give it back to you if you delete the app or move to a new phone. Your progress would be lost. To prevent that, you can add an email address and password at any time using "Save Your Progress" in the app. That turns it into a proper account you can sign back into anywhere. It is worth doing this before you build up progress you would hate to lose.

If you do attach an email address and password, or sign in with Apple or Google, you are responsible for keeping those credentials secure. You may not share your account or use someone else's account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Usernames must not impersonate another person, contain offensive language, or violate any applicable law. This applies to usernames you choose for yourself; it does not apply to the random username we generate for you. We reserve the right to reclaim or modify usernames that violate these guidelines.

3. Acceptable Use and User Content

FlagStack lets you choose a public username and bio that other players can see. You are solely responsible for the content you provide, and you agree not to:

• Post or use any username, bio, or other content that is offensive, obscene, hateful, harassing, threatening, or otherwise objectionable
• Use the app to harass, abuse, harm, or impersonate others
• Use automated tools or bots to manipulate leaderboards or scores
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, modify, or distribute the app
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. We screen usernames and bios for objectionable content, and the app provides tools to report content and block other users. You can also email flagstacksupport@gmail.com to report abuse. We review reports and may remove content and suspend or terminate offending accounts without notice, typically within 24 hours of becoming aware of objectionable content.

4. In-App Features

FlagStack is currently free to use. We may introduce optional paid features in the future. Any such features will be clearly marked and require your explicit purchase.

5. Intellectual Property

The FlagStack app, including its design, code, user interface, and original content, is owned by FlagStack and protected by copyright. You may not reproduce or distribute the app or its proprietary assets without permission.

FlagStack also incorporates open-source software and third-party data that we do not own, each used under its own licence. These include flag imagery in the public domain (flagcdn.com), weather data from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (CC BY 4.0), historical events and holiday data derived from Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0 and CC BY-SA 3.0), earthquake data from the U.S. Geological Survey (public domain), exchange rates dedicated to the public domain (CC0 1.0), and a number of open-source libraries. Nothing in these terms restricts any right you have under those licences. A complete, current list of every component and its licence is available in the app under Settings → Licences.

6. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be available at all times or that it will be free of errors.

Educational content (country names, capitals, flag details) is provided for informational purposes and may not be 100% accurate or current.

Live data is for general interest only. FlagStack shows information that comes from outside sources, including current weather, recent earthquake activity, public holidays and currency exchange rates. We do not check any of it. It can be out of date, incomplete or simply wrong. Please do not rely on it for anything that matters, such as safety, travel, emergency or financial decisions. It is there to make the world feel a bit more alive inside a geography game.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, FlagStack is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
